摘要: Date palms have been grown in the land of Israel for several thousands years. Although date orchards had flourished during Roman Empire and were famous their fruit quality, these lost through hundreds years without extensive farming remote dessert oases. During twentieth century, elite cultivars originating from Egypt, Iraq, Tunisia, Morocco imported to form an active industry. Since 1990s Israeli industry has focused on production high-quality Medjool fruit. The semidry requires additional management care before after its harvest, including laborious thinning selective repeated harvests; although is small, last 25 years, it annual growth rate 5–10 %. A large portion dates are exported, especially into European markets, where a very significant market share. Innovation research led physiological technical solutions improving all aspects growing, harvesting, postharvest treatments. Special efforts invested machines improve productivity safety workers high trees.
