Untreated dental caries in children with cerebral palsy in the Brazilian context.

摘要: Objectives.  To assess the prevalence of untreated dental caries in children with cerebral palsy and to socio-demographic, behavioural, clinical covariates. Design.  Cross-sectional assessment 200 adolescents (2–17 years old) enrolled a specialized healthcare unit Sao Paulo, Brazil. The examination followed World Health Organization's guidelines for oral health surveys; familial caretakers informed on socio-economic status behaviour; patient's medical record their status. Results.  proportion that presented at least one tooth affected by was 49.5%. Poor standings higher frequency sugar consumption associated worse profile health; different types (spastic, tetraparesis) did not. than reference values assessed overall population same age range. Conclusions.  high burden patients reinforces importance dentist interdisciplinary team attending these children. Factors this outcome are general population; findings underscore necessity implementing effective prevention
