摘要: Microtensile experiments have been performed to elucidate the mechanical response of ultrafine-grained Mg thin films. Strengths 160 MPa and elongations up 8% were measured. Post-deformation electron microscopy indicates a lack intragranular dislocation confinement. While strength does increase with decreasing grain size, size effect for hexagonal is not as strong that reported face-centered cubic metals. Strength appears be governed by pile-up well texture Peierls effects. © 2013 Acta Materialia Inc. Published Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
