Anti-bacterial and cytotoxic properties of plasma sprayed silver-containing HA coatings

摘要: Silver-containing hydroxyapatite (HA) coatings have been prepared on titanium substrate by vacuum plasma spraying (VPS) method and anti-bacterial properties of the were examined. Three types bacteria stains, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, employed in this test. The results showed that silver-containing HA exhibited significant effects against three with ratios higher than 95%. release silver ions physiological environment ensured excellent coatings. International standard ISO 10993-12 was adopted for cytotoxicity evaluation using fibroblast cell line L929, it found ranked 0 no Hemolysis test processed according to ASTM F 756 anti-coagulated rabbit blood, hemolysis below 0.4%, indicating non-hemolysis
