摘要: This paper examines the pivotal role of social stratification in Russia's health crisis. The primary level causal factor is increased mortality from heart disease and alcohol-related poisonings accidents. In order to understand origin causes, it necessary look further for secondary factors. Whereas policy stress are important, leading determinant negative lifestyles. question then arises: What source this lifestyle? necessitates a search tertiary causes absence strong middle class Russia identified. Western society, class, especially upper carrier positive lifestyles across boundaries. Russian has not initiated countering predominately lifestyle practices because similar that West does exist. needs civil society which similarly stable empowered can promote within its own stratum elsewhere structure; until happens, situation country may stabilise better.
