Etiology of duodenal ulcers in a Colombian population

摘要: Summary Introduction: In the last decade number of duodenal ulcers secondary to Helicobacter pylori has decrea- sed in United States. During same period there been an increase reported cases associated with NSAID as well idiopathic (H. and NSAID/Aspirin negative). Since prevalence rates both H. are date unknown Colombia, we decided undertake this study. Materials Methods: This study looks at adult patients who were diagnosed after undergoing esophagogastroduodenoscopies (EGD) gastroenterology unit Hospital el Tunal Clinica Fundadores Bogota, Colombia. Results: Between January 2007 November 2008, 104 ulcer recruited Their mean age was 56 +/- 13 years. 61% men. infections identifi ed 76 (73%), while 12 (11.5%) risk from NSAID/Aspirin. 31 (29.8%) had risks factors no (11.5%). Conclusions: 14.4% our could not be explained by either H or Additional studies necessary determine other causes. far leading cause ulcers, a distant second. Given these results, recommend treatment eradicate even whose diagnostic tests have indicated its presence.
