摘要: An active biomonitoring experiment was performed using mussels collected at a clean site, Fier d'Ars, and transplanted to two locations, outside the harbor of La Rochelle in Baie de L'Aiguillon along coast Charentes (French Atlantic coast) beginning April for several months. Mussels were June October. The cadmium, copper, zinc concentrations all resident mussel samples polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon polychlorinated biphenyl some sediment determined. Mussel response evaluated biochemical biomarkers: metallothionein, activities glutathione S-transferase acetylcholinesterase (AChE) levels thiobarbituric reactive substance (TBARS). physiological status animals assessed condition index. A principal component analysis with chemical results evaluations allowed them be separated into three groups: from la high metal TBARS levels, very index, d'Ars low AChE activities. Strong seasonal variation October parameters noted. appeared most "polluted" their pollutant responses; moreover, site had highest concentration organics sediments sites. choice as reference may questionable because biomarker responses higher than expected there, although these pollutants present lowest measured.
