摘要: Lithification of carbonate sediments occurs under both marine and freshwater conditions. Mineralogically, texturally, genetically four different types cement matrix are recognized. These are: 1. aragonite as fibrous or micrite, 2. highmagnesian calcite 3. low-magnesian drusy mosaic wedge-shaped crystals rods, 4. micrite. Aragonite high-magnesian the minerals which form in environment, whereas makes up environment. forms cements hypersaline very shallow conditions, such deep-sea Red Sea, beachrocks reefs. It may also be deposited grapestones. High-magnesian a micrite environment Low-magnesian fresh water conditions shape rods limestones, tufa cave pearls. rocks it has been emplaced post-depositionally by water. is formed water, lakes, where oncolites massive limestones. Texturally lowmagnesian indistinguishable from its diagenetic equivalent.
