摘要: Abstract Landscape values mapping (LVM) is a participatory process used to gather public input for park and forest management. Respondents assign landscape or ecosystem benefits places on map using typology that usually includes the value “recreation.” Whereas other in reflect personal guiding principles enduring beliefs, recreation represents diverse set of human behaviors influenced by their beliefs. For more accurate comparison mapped values, better inform land managers underlying factors determining people's preferences, it important deconstruct people draw upon when recreation. In this study, we compare maps included excluded “recreation” options. absence recreation, surfaced variably individual, providing insight its complexity suggesting LVM exercises incorporate may not be eliciting underlying, often conflicting, values.
