A Comparison of Warm Asphalt Binder Aging with Laboratory Aging Procedures

摘要: Warm asphalt has been gaining increasing popularity in recent years; however there are several characteristics about warm that still unknown. While studies have conducted to study the performance of mixtures, aging mix (WMA) binders not known great detail. This paper presents results a limited evaluate two WMA artificially aged rolling thin film oven (RTFO) and pressure vessel comparing them with binder extracted from freshly prepared mixtures. RTFO was performed at 163°C lower temperature simulate aging. Tests on laboratory mixed mixtures indicated had significantly viscosities G∗/sin δ compared hot (HMA) (325°F). indicates mixing compaction temperatures reduce binders. Also, creep stiffness values higher m-values (325°F) HMA. Binders containing additives did G∗ sin values, indicating do negatively affect fatigue properties Gel permeation chromatography analysis addition any significant effect %LMS used this study.
