摘要: Abstract Four complementation groups have been found for phage S13 using two types of conditional lethal mutants, temperature-sensitive ( t ) and suppressible su mutants. Each group contains both Genetic crosses show that the mutants each are located in a separate region genetic map. Many I affected their host range adsorption properties therefore believed to lie determining structure protein coat. IV unable lyse restrictive host, E. coli C, while I, II, III C completely. all four produce little or no coat antigen C. completely rescued by an + mixed infection but very poorly rescued. An mutant has isolated which appears be O 0 polar mutant, since it is defective functions IV, yet does not seem double mutant. Mapping experiments map distances roughly additive III, IV.
