摘要: Abstract This paper presents the results of an experimental investigation on effect cutting speed in turning nodular cast iron with alumina (Al2O3) based ceramic tools. Three different tools were used, namely TiN coated Al2O3 + TiCN mixed ceramic, SiC whisker reinforced Al2O3 and uncoated tool. Turning experiments carried out at four speeds, which 300, 450, 600 750 m/min. Depth cut feed rate kept constant 1 mm 0.1 mm/rev, respectively, throughout experiments. Tool performance was evaluated respect to tool wear, surface finish produced forces generated during turning. Uncoated worst performing wear best finish. exhibited forces. If force are considered together, among three studied, is most suitable one for iron, especially high speeds (Vc > 600 m/min).
