摘要: Syntactic binding refers to combining words into larger structures. Using EEG, we investigated the neural processes involved in syntactic binding. Participants were auditorily presented two-word sentences (i.e. a pronoun and pseudoverb such as "she dotches", for which can take place) wordlists two pseudoverbs "pob no occur). Comparing these conditions, targeted while minimizing contributions of semantic other cognitive working memory. We found converging pattern results using distinct analysis approaches: one approach frequency bands defined previous literature, data-driven looked at entire range frequencies between 3-30 Hz without constraints pre-defined bands. In (relative wordlist) condition, power increase was observed alpha beta shortly preceding presentation target word that requires binding, maximal over frontal-central electrodes. Our interpretation is signatures reflect language comprehenders expect need occur. Following context wordlist condition), an left lateralized cluster frontal-temporal electrodes observed. suggest this relates taking place. Taken together, our findings increases are reflections underlying
