摘要: Modified versions of in situ strength tests previously applied to metamorphosed snow were developed measure the mechanical properties newly fallen during storm periods. A large drop-cone penetrometer, protected from wind by an aluminum shell, was used determine “hardness”. lightweight model Haefeli ram penetrometer measured “ram numbers”. Shear strengths obtained large, light-weight frames. Some preliminary made with a shear vane driven torque wrench. new technique devised for measuring tensile whereby cantilever beam is undercut until it fails under its own weight. Comparisons between test and shear-frame show high ratios strength. Cantilever plotted against density shows order magnitude variation at all densities.
