To “B” or not to “B”: Assessing the disclosure dilemma of bisexual individuals at work

摘要: Abstract Despite a recent push toward understanding and advocating for LGB employees in the workplace, unique experiences of bisexual individuals have received little attention scholarly organizational contexts. In this manuscript, we attempt to address by providing novel empirical data from two studies that assess experience disclosing bisexuality workplace context multiple perspectives –bisexual themselves, as well non-bisexual (i.e., heterosexual, gay, lesbian) individuals. Taken together, found evidence suggesting are less likely disclose their sexual orientation at work compared gay lesbian employees. addition, our findings indicate hold negative views about bisexuality, which argue may part explain employees' stronger hesitation identities Finally, vignette-based study applicants who disclosed job application incurred substantial job-related penalties applicants. We discuss theoretical practical implications provide insight into several promising directions future research.
