摘要: Bacteriological diagnosis of brucellosis is performed by culturing animal samples directly on both Farrell medium (FM) and modified Thayer-Martin (mTM). However, despite inhibiting most contaminating microorganisms, FM also inhibits the growth Brucella ovis some B. melitensis abortus strains. In contrast, mTM adequate for all species but only partially inhibitory contaminants. Moreover, performance culture media isolating suis has never been established properly. We first determined isolation, proving that significantly growth. susceptibility to antibiotics contained in selective media, nalidixic acid bacitracin are highly inhibitory, thus explaining reduced isolation. Based these results, a new (CITA) containing vancomycin, colistin, nystatin, nitrofurantoin, amphotericin B was tested isolation main species, including suis. CITA's evaluated using reference contaminant strains field taken from brucella-infected animals or suspected infection. CITA inhibited microorganisms allowed levels similar those control without mTM. more sensitive than samples. Altogether, results demonstrate primary
