摘要: Dielectric logging tools have been used for some time in attempting to characterize oil reservoirs, and particular provide in-situ measurements of water saturation. The sensitivity basic electrical measurements, e.g. resistivity, the presence made original use this approach most relevant determination water-filled porosity. In-depth dielectric spectroscopic analyses reveal contributions from underlying processes materials, including electronic, ionic (electric double layer, EDL) interfacial (Maxwell-Wagner, M-W) polarization, as well molecular orientation. Our objective is evaluation spectroscopy a means characterizing physico-chemical structural characteristics sands. Relatively recently, there has resurgence interest application techniques unconsolidated heterogeneous systems. present study builds on recent developments literature, and, specifically determine extent which potentially dominant effects can be overcome order access additional information, such particle size wettability. This initial therefore involved investigating range synthetic sands systematically prepared bitumen, water, sand clay, compare behaviour with results obtained real core sample (obtained BP asset). low-frequency analysis (10 10 Hz) yields complex properties (e.g. conductivity, permittivity, impedance) frequency dependent in-phase quadrature components. Within range, spectra are dominated by EDL M-W polarization effects. By varying preparation methods, it possible observe differences respect water. Copyright 2013, Society Petroleum Engineers.
