Two-Body System in Quantum Electrodynamics. Energy Levels of Positronium

摘要: Expressions are obtained for all ${\ensuremath{\alpha}}^{3}\mathrm{Ry}$ contributions to the energy levels of two-fermion system in electrodynamics. These expressions evaluated from a relativistic two-body equation which takes binding into account its interaction operator. They specifically calculated $n=2$ system. Corrections arise three sources: (1) improved treatment pair effects Coulomb field and exchange transverse photons, (2) self-energy vacuum polarization terms, and, positronium, (3) second-order annihilation processes. The shifts resulting do not depend on arbitrary masses through single parameter like reduced mass. In limit appropriate hydrogen, previously corrections item confirmed.The principal new result is determination positronium. contrast where effect dominant, here items yield roughly equal corrections. Together, they amount about 3 percent ${\ensuremath{\alpha}}^{2}\mathrm{Ry}$ level splitting.
