The Contralateral Transcallosal Approach: Experience with 32 Patients

摘要: OBJECTIVE : To demonstrate the usefulness of contralateral transcallosal approach for resecting lesions located laterally in or adjacent to lateral ventricle. METHODS Modifications standard ipsilateral technique include positioning head with midline oriented horizontally, placing side lesion up, and performing craniotomy interhemispheric dissection on side. This avoids a transcortical incision, allows gravity hold open fissure, increases exposure lesion. was used 32 patients variety lesions, including 6 cavernous malformations, 7 arteriovenous 19 tumors various types. All but three were left RESULTS six all four benign tumors, seven malformations resected completely. Malignant subtotally, required stereotactic radiosurgery treat residual deep nidus. There no surgical mortality. Two experienced neurological deterioration. CONCLUSION The can be safely successfully.
