摘要: Large-eddy simulation is used to study the sensitivity of trade-wind cumulus clouds perturbations in cloud droplet number concentrations. We find that trade wind system approaches a radiative-convective equilibrium state, modified by net warming and drying from imposed large-scale advective forcing. The requires several days reach when cooling rates are specified but much less time, with density, radiation depends realistically on vertical distribution water vapor. transient behavior properties near-equilibrium field microphysical state therefore here taken as proxy for ambient aerosol. primary response changes density deepening layer. This leads decrease relative humidity faster evaporation small remnants constituting negative lifetime effect. In regime cover compensates Twomey effect, i.e., brightening clouds, overall aerosol effect albedo organized precipitating small. article protected copyright. All rights reserved.
