摘要: Abstract Epidemiological studies have identified a negative correlation between smoking and the development of neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinson's disease, in some studies, Alzheimer's disease. These findings been attributed to ability nicotine act neuroprotective agent. A large number demonstrate that can protect against neuronal death vitro vivo, mechanisms underlying excitotoxicity amyloid-? toxicity are beginning be elucidated. Despite compelling evidence is neuroprotective, it clear toxic under circumstances. The balance neuroprotection depends on dose, developmental stage regimen administration. Therefore, full understanding molecular cellular effects signaling pathways relevant survival critical for informed drug discovery nicotinic compounds combat human neurodegeneration. This review summarizes recent related nicotine-mediated neuroprotection, addresses issues use agent vivo.
