摘要: A method and apparatus is provided for operating an electrochemical fuel cell with periodic momentary starvation at the anode, e.g. interrupting supply of said fuel, or periodically introducing pulses a fuel-free fluid into stream. It believed that such conditions cause anode potential to increase, resulting in oxidation removal electrocatalyst poisons from improved performance. In preferred method, while successive localized portions are momentarily starved, remainder remains electrochemically active saturated continually available generate power.
