摘要: Abstract The economic and social promises of emerging technologies, especially nanotechnology, are assumed to be outstanding due radical innovative features materials, products services. However, preliminary studies indicate that these very same features, e.g. high chemical reactivity, could entail adverse impacts on human health the environment. Calls for appropriate regulation societal formation nanotechnology developments have been made, resulting in concept sustainable governance. required anticipatory knowledge supporting efforts seems so far lack a sound methodological basis as well an integrated perspective nanotechnological applications. We present scenario study possible future Switzerland (reference year 2020). employed formalized functional methodology, featuring system analysis, consistency analysis transdisciplinary collaboration. results five different constellations contextual aspects, such public awareness, profit potential legal regulations, which consistently correspond distinct market situations Going beyond specific scenarios, article argues rigorous methodology valuable tool governance technologies.
