摘要: Giardia duodenalis is a cosmopolitan zoonotic protozoan parasite causing giardiasis, one of the most common diarrhoeal diseases in human and animals. Beyond its public health relevance, represents valuable fascinating model microorganism. The deep-branching phylogenetic position Giardia, simple life cycle minimalistic genomic cellular organization provide unique opportunity to define basal "ancestral" eukaryotic functions. 14-3-3 protein family distinct example phosphoserine/phosphothreonine-binding proteins. extended network protein-protein interactions established by proteins place them at crossroad multiple signalling pathways that regulate physiological pathological processes. Despite remarkable insight on different organisms, from yeast humans, so far little attention was given study this parasites. However, last years, research efforts have provided evidences properties single association key aspects cycle. In first part chapter, general overview features commonly shared among organisms (i.e. structure, target recognition, mode action regulatory mechanisms) included. second focus current knowledge biochemistry biology possibility use as propose new strategies for developing innovative antigiardial therapy.
