Frequency-selective MEMS for miniaturized communication devices

摘要: With Q's in the tens to hundreds of thousands, micromachined vibrating resonators are proposed as IC-compatible tanks for use low phase noise oscillators and highly selective filters communications subsystems. To date, LF have been fully integrated using merged CMOS+microstructure technologies, bandpass consisting spring-coupled micromechanical demonstrated HF range. In particular, two-resonator with frequencies up 14.5 MHz, percent bandwidths on order 0.2%, insertion losses less than 1 dB. Higher-order three-resonator near 455 kHz also achieved, equally impressive 0.09% bandwidths, more 64 dB passband rejection. Evidence suggests that ultimate frequency range this high-Q tank technology depends upon material limitations, well design constraints-in degree electromechanical coupling achievable micro-scale resonators.
