AIDS / HIV risk behavior among the chronic mentally ill.

摘要: There is a growing concern that chronically mentally ill adults living in the community have high risk for HIV infection. This study sought to identify knowledge high-risk behaviors and risk-related encounters of chronic psychiatric patients. Detailed information on situations during past 12 months was collected from 60 outpatients who came regular visits at inner-city mental health clinics. Of 37 (62%) had been sexually active year 42% men 19% women reported multiple sexual contacts infrequent use condoms intercourse. Assessments patients AIDS risks revealed substantial deficits their practical understanding reduction measures. Although intravenous drugs uncommon this group many subjects histories of: trading sex money or place stay; coercion engage unwanted sex; casual encounters; activity after intoxicants. 20% met partners street parks other public places. 1/3 treated transmitted diseases than AIDS.
