Informational needs of gastrointestinal oncology patients

摘要: Objectives In response to the dearth of consumer health information for patients with gastrointestinal cancers, this study examined informational needs these build a plan future resource development. Methods A cross-sectional assessment comprising self-administered questionnaire was conducted at an ambulatory oncology clinic in Toronto, Canada. Patient were measured, including importance information, amount desired and preferred mode delivery. Informational grouped into six domains: medical, practical, physical, emotional, social spiritual. Results Eighty-two surveys analysed. The majority respondents male (53.8%), over age 50 (77.8%), born outside Canada (51.9%). While many did not speak English as child (46.3%), do home (22.2%), nearly indicated comfort receiving (97.5%). college educated (79.3%) married (73%). Multiple cancer types reported; most common being colorectal (39%), followed by pancreatic (12%) cancers gallbladder or bile duct (12%). Overall, placed highest on medical (P < 0.001). Preferred education modalities pamphlets, websites one-on-one discussions health-care professionals. Conclusions This highlights principal malignancies, along modality This will guide development educational resources patients.
