摘要: This instrument is based on a newly established concept of ?-ray detection in the very difficult 1-30 MeV range. It employs unique feature two-step interaction y-ray: Compton scattering collision first detector followed by an second element. COMPTEL has been designed to perform sensitive survey y-ray sky. Extreme care taken minimize background so that limits will be dominated source counting statistics. combines wide field view (about 1 steradian) with good angular resolution. The design criteria and perforrmance Science Model are described.
