摘要: Antioxidants have been suggested to alleviate the pathophysiological features of asthma, and grape seed proanthocyanidin extract (GSPE) has reported powerful antioxidant activity. This study was performed determine whether GSPE a therapeutic effect on allergic airway inflammation in both acute chronic murine model asthma. Acute asthma generated by intraperitoneal sensitization ovalbumin (OVA) with alum followed aerosolized OVA challenges, whereas induced repeated intranasal challenges fungal protease twice week for 8 weeks. administered either injection or oral gavage before challenges. Airway hyperresponsiveness (AHR) measured, evaluated bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) fluid analysis histopathological examination lung tissue. Lung tissue levels various cytokines, chemokines, growth factors were analyzed quantitative polymerase chain reaction ELISA. Glutathione assay done measure oxidative burden Compared untreated asthmatic mice, mice treated showed significantly reduced AHR, decreased inflammatory cells BAL fluid, inflammation, IL-4, IL-5, IL-13, eotaxin-1 expression models. Moreover, subepithelial fibrosis GSPE-treated compared mice. Reduced oxidized glutathione (GSH/GSSG) ratio increased after treatment effectively suppressed mouse models suggesting potential role as agent
