摘要: A brackish lagoon at Itaipu, Brazil, contains magnetotactic bacteria with unusually large magnetite magnetosomes (lengths 100–200 nm). The micromagnetic structures of the from two different coccoid organisms have been determined by electron holography. results are consistent single-magnetic-domain structure in elongated one organism and metastable, larger, more equi-axed, other organism. theoretical predictions transition dimension between stable metastable single-domain magnetite.
