摘要: We have measured the quasistatic room temperature equation of state GeO2 glass under hydrostatic conditions to 7.1 GPa. From ambient pressure 4 GPa compression displays completely reversible elastic behavior. Above becomes anelastic and exhibits a dramatic increase in static compressibility. This change response is concomitant with onset previously reported pressure‐induced germanium coordination change. The data can be quantitatively described by two‐domain model composed four‐ six‐coordinated clusters. accurately reproduces average Ge–O bond length germania rationalizes different dependent compressional behavior observed ultrasonic measurements. further conjecture that vitreous polyamorphism exhibited at high pressures, crystal‐to‐amorphous transition quartz‐isotyp...
