Use of herbal therapies by older, community-dwelling women.

摘要: Background.  Herbal medicines, products and therapies are a subject of great public interest both nationally worldwide. Use herbal therapy is most common among women patients with chronic health problems. Aim.  This paper reports study to determine the prevalence use over 65 years who live independently in community, compare socio-demographic characteristics status older those do not. Methods.  was cross-sectional study. Random samples 385 participants took part structured interviews at five primary care centres Turkey between September December 2002. Results.  were used by 48·3% sample previous 12 months. No differences demographic found for users non-users. We that substantially higher who: (1) reported any disability activities daily living, (2) had poor self-reported health, (3) very frequent physician visits, (4) conditions such as cardiac problems, diabetes, stroke, cancer, asthma, pneumonia or urinary problems. Conclusions.  It important community nurses be knowledgeable about when providing because possible interactions other treatments, delays seeking care, quality products.
