摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the biochemical analysis of mitochondrial transcription and translation. It is well known that mitochondria, like chloroplasts, are semiautonomous organelles. implies two genetic systems cooperate in their biosynthesis: an extramitochondrial system intramitochondrial system. The formed by nuclear genome which codes for majority proteins through formation mRNA translated mostly or completely at level cytoplasmic machinery protein synthesis. a whose continuity expression ensured existence, within organelle itself, enzymes responsible DNA RNA synthesis, complete protein-synthesizing with properties different from those its counterpart. Two approaches used study transcription: studies vitro vivo. summarizes main results obtained organisms, most commonly being yeast, Neurospora crassa, Tetrahymena pyriformis, HeLa cells, Xenopus, rat liver. experimental to translation products have been reviewed.
