Sensitivity monitoring of herpes simplex virus isolates from patients receiving acyclovir

摘要: A simple plaque-reduction assay was used to determine the acyclovir sensitivity of herpes simplex virus isolates taken from patients enrolled int he clinical trial programme. The resultant data revealed no reduction in those patients, with a normal immune status, receiving topical, oral or intravenous for treatment acute disease episodes. In prophylaxis chronic infections immunocompromised reductions were observed but these infrequent. Sensitive later recovered small number who had yielded resistant when they followed through next recurrence.
