摘要: In The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn, Mark Twain introduced two the most iconic boys in American literature. Huck become heroic figures, despite their penchant for bad behaviour. Indeed, it is propensity to be impulsive, break rules defy authority that win them day. Today, however, Finn have posterboys a psychiatric disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, or ADHD. I trace how why attitudes about pathological boys' behaviour reversed during twentieth century, from focus on shy, introverted, physically passive very opposite - like Huck. argue that, rather than imposing limits childhood behaviour, we should more accepting encouraging all types children.
