Arable plant diversity on conventional cropland—The role of crop species, management and environment

摘要: Abstract Arable plant assemblages are affected by a wide range of management and environmental factors. It is yet unclear which factors the most important predictors arable diversity composition in contemporary agricultural landscapes. The dramatic decline agro-biodiversity calls for strategies to reconcile production biodiversity goals on basis sound knowledge about determinants farmland biodiversity. Based surveys flora 240 conventional maize winter cereal (wheat barley) fields two regions Germany, we assessed importance large number management, spatial abundance, species richness community composition. All conventionally managed had very low (3–6 100 m−2). A complete model with all examined explained 40 32% variation 42 36% field interior margin, respectively. choice crop other (sowing date, fertilisation, herbicide use rotation) were identified as fields. Our results show that unless agrochemical input markedly reduced, potential increasing floristic high-input cropland small.
