摘要: Purpose. Describing the epidemiology of cerebral palsy (CP), its impairments and risk factors.Method. Literature review 1965 – 2004. Search terms: Cerebral palsy, incidence, prevalence, impairments, factors.Results. In last 40 years prevalence CP has risen to well above 2.0 per 1000 life births. In this time span proportion low-birthweight infants rose, diplegia decreased, while hemiplegia increased. is more prevalent in deprived socio-economic populations. The majority people with have spastic syndrome which diplegic group smallest. Dependent on subgroup CP, 25 – 80% additional impairments. A large some kind cognitive impairment; varies type especially increases when epilepsy present. Epilepsy present 20 – 40%; it most common among hemi- tetraplegics.
