Bringing values back in: the limitations of institutional logics and the relevance of dialectical phenomenology

摘要: Since the seminal essay of Friedland and Alford (1991), institutional logics perspective has significantly influenced organizational research. Extant research understands as assumptions, values, beliefs rules that provide meaning for institutions shape action in fields. However, by obliterating role organization scholars have confined variation change to a schema finite combinations, overshadowing intrinsic constitutive what more recently called substances. In this article, I present philosophy Cornelius Castoriadis with aim contributing deeper understanding values institutions. His dialectical phenomenology challenges dominant view among because it underscores meanings are not tantamount logics, but rather result signifying acts around imaginary significations. That is, stem from The contribution article is two-fold. First, presents Castoridian framework analysis, whereby interrelated though conceptually distinct. Second, brings forth concept transubstantiation way explicating how actors bring substances into being within through domains practice while deferring such discourse potentially changing them.
