Globally distributed content delivery

摘要: When we launched the Akamai system in early 1999, it initially delivered only Web objects (images and documents). It has since evolved to distribute dynamically generated pages even applications network's edge, providing customers with on-demand bandwidth computing capacity. This reduces content providers' infrastructure requirements, lets them deploy or expand services more quickly easily. Our current than 12,000 servers over 1,000 networks. Operating many locations poses technical challenges, including how direct user requests appropriate servers, handle failures, monitor control update software across system. We describe our we've managed these challenges.
