摘要: Type 2 diabetes (T2D) in youth is a relatively novel condition facing paediatric health care providers. Few experimental trials exist to guide clinical management this population. Supporting and prescribing modifiable lifestyle behaviours cornerstone the of T2D adults. Clinical obese adolescents suggest that intensive interventions include both dietary changes increased physical activity elicit clinically meaningful reductions weight improve cardiovascular risk profiles. Observational studies with better diet quality are associated metabolic control; however, limited data available does not support these observations. Trials evaluating monotherapy for treatment hyperglycaemia do exist, only study combined pharmacologic therapy did show additional benefit over metformin alone. Physiological psychosocial differences between adults likely contribute effectiveness improving glycaemic control.
