摘要: This study is a synthesis of existing information on poverty in Zimbabwe. It analyzes recent data to assess how economic reforms have affected Zimbabwe during the 1990s. The paper aims build consensus characteristics and causes inform debate policy priorities, guide discussion agenda for further studies poverty. Poverty predominantly rural, most prevalent country's communal farming resettlement areas. Prevalence lower large-scale commercial farms urban also linked mainly fact that majority shareholders do not sufficient access good quality land and/or reliable water. Land extremely unequally distributed, with poor usually living small plots drought-prone areas soil. markets are inflexible, which constrains growth. main conclusion after period stagnant growth, painful adjustment period, several droughts, there now fairly prospects reducing through broad-based growth direct investments targeted poor.
