摘要: In the present study, we investigated possible tick vectors that can transmit Theileria orientalis in eastern Hokkaido, Japan. Questing ticks collected from three different districts, Taiki, Otofuke, and Shin-Hidaka, of Hokkaido included Ixodes persulcatus, Haemaphysalis megaspinosa, douglasi, ovatus, while all Yonaguni island Okinawa were identified as longicornis. When screened by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for T. orientalis, parasite was commonly detected among species. Genotype-specific PCR assays revealed species predominantly with type 2, (H. longicornis) 1. Consistent genetic diversity ticks, genotyping cattle grazed same sampling locations 2 most prevalent genotype. This study provides first identification I. H. ovatus finds variety apparently capable transmitting is wider Japan than expected. The authors suggest control strategies should be modified based on seasonal activities study.
