摘要: Abstract Citizen science is a rapidly growing field whereby volunteers can collect and/or analyze data to contribute research and gain an appreciation for the environment. There are countless programs currently underway around world: some have clear scientific hypotheses being tested others simple gathering; designed led at grass-roots level while done by academics. This review focusses on best practices development running of citizen projects make them successful. It includes discussion different methods experimental design, collection, analyses; how participants recruited, engaged, rewarded (including who participates why); effect participation volunteer's knowledge actions; impact policy other conservation actions. While there several challenges that face, more needed in various areas, many benefits support continued expansion projects.
