Beliefs and barriers to medication use in parents of Latino children with asthma

摘要: Objective: Disparities in asthma outcomes exist between Latino and non-Latino white (NLW) children. We examined rates of medication use, beliefs, perceived barriers to obtaining US island Puerto Rican parents children with asthma. Hypotheses: Island PR would report the lowest controller followed by RI NLW parents; more concerns than Island most use. Study Design: Five hundred thirty families persistent participated, including 231 PR, 111 NLW, 188 Latino. Parents completed survey measures. Results: Group differences were found on reported use ICS (X2 = 50.96, P < 0.001), any (X2 = 56.49, oral steroids (X2 = 10.87, P < 0.01). a greater frequency other two groups (X2 = 61.13, P < 0.001). both sites expressed (F = 20.18, Medication necessity was associated all three (all P's < 0.01). positively only (OR = 1.64, P < 0.05).
