Mental health services for children placed in foster care: an overview of current challenges.

摘要: Given the evidence from studies indicating that children in care have significant developmental, behavioral, and emotional problems, services for these are an essential societal investment. Youth foster adults who formerly were placed (foster alumni) disproportionately high rates of behavioral disorders. Among areas concern has been lack comprehensive mental health screening all entering out-of-home care, need more thorough identification youth with disorders, insufficient access to high-quality services. In 2001, American Academy Child Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) Welfare League America (CWLA) formed a values subcommittee establish guidelines on improving policy practices various systems serve (AACAP CWLA, 2002). Because excellent quality comprehensiveness statements, Casey Clinical Foster Care Research Development Project undertook consensus development work enhance build upon statements. This article presents overview functioning alumni outlines project developed guidelines.
