摘要: Complaints of insomnia and disordered sleep are pervasive among the elderly, reduced total time changes in architecture considered to be normal aging process. Additionally, numerous medical psychiatric disorders that highly prevalent geriatric population known affect adversely. Epidemiologic data indicate at least 5 million older adults suffer severe most people with receive no treatment for this troubling symptom. However, although elderly comprise only about 12 percent American population, between 35 40 all prescriptions sedative hypnotics written over age 60. Moreover, approximately 23 Americans 85 reside long-term care facilities, institutionalization is an important risk factor hypnotic prescription. Consequently, evaluation any agent must include substantial assessment efficacy, safety, tolerance patients.
