Densification and microstructure of Al2O3-cBN composites prepared by spark plasma sintering

摘要: Al 2 O 3 -cubic boron nitride (cBN) composites were prepared from and cBN powders by spark plasma sintering (SPS) at temperatures of 1200 to 1600°C for 600 s under a pressure 100 MPa. Densification, phase transformation, microstructure mechanical properties the -cBN investigated. Fully dense containing 10 20 vol% with relative density more than 98% obtained 1300°C without transformation hexagonal BN (hBN). The was greatly accelerated in composite cBN. inhibited grain growth composite. Vickers hardness sintered showed maximum value 26 GPa. had highest fracture toughness 4.1 MPa·m 1/2 .
