摘要: Behavioral and psychological symptoms are often apparent major issues in elderly patients with dementia, potentially the cause of caregiver’s stress, thus leading these to nursing homes. Aging is a risk factor for using antipsychotics due behavioral dementia (BPSD) present challenge task geriatric psychopharmacology, which complicated not only by effects normal aging but co-morbid medical illness. Elderly subclinical syndromes or that modified disease partial treatment. Antipsychotics were frequently used treatment BPSD. However, recent years, use (both conventional atypical) has been widely debated their efficacy treating disturbances possible serious adverse events dementia.1-3 In past, BPSD was strongly limited severe events,4,5 whereas atypical believed have far milder effect profile than older counterparts. several studies raised questions about this belief.1,2 2002, trials risperidone olanzapine psychotic isUnderstanding Patients Dementia
