摘要: In July 2014, Australia abolished the Australian carbon pricing mechanism introduced in 2011. comparison, EU emissions trading scheme has been up and running since 2005 despite critical challenges at various junctures. What explains quick unravelling of former sustainability latter? The reasons may be three fold. First, multiplicity preferences among veto players, coupled a partisan climate politics, made policy inherently unstable. EU, on other hand, less divisive politics set stage for an inter-temporally stable policy. These led to divergence interest groups’ feedback introduction respective policies. While incentivised businesses fight back, sent unified message adapt. Finally, Australia’s lacked effective adhesion flexibility mechanisms prosper uncertain political future.
