摘要: Soil Organic Carbon (SOC) constitutes the largest terrestrial carbon pool. The understanding of its dynamics and environmental factors that influence behaviour as sink or source atmospheric CO2 is crucial to quantify budget at global scale. At European scale, most existing studies account for SOC stocks are centred in fitting predictive model ascertain distribution SOC. However, development methodologies monitoring identifying control storage Europe remains a key research challenge. Here we present modelling procedure mapping contents uses Visible-Near Infrared (VNIR) spectroscopic measurements series covariates processes have major contribution into sequestration processes. Our results show it follows geographically non-stationary process which influencing different weights depending on spatial location. This implies stock should not rely single but combination statistical models characteristics each area. A cluster classification soils relation those resulted determination four groups specific been obtained. Differences climate, soil pH, content coarse fragments land cover type main explaining differences topsoil from Europe. We found climatic conditions driver continental also parameters like local scales certain areas. methodology developed scale could be used future aimed improve performance assessments
